Selling your home doesn’t have to be difficult. The market is on the rise, and buyers are ready to purchase! Follow these home-selling tips and you will spend less money and time, all while making your home a potential buyer’s dream house.

Gain Some Curb Appeal with Your First Impression

You have seven seconds to impress a potential buyer. Odds are, they’ll already make judgments about your home before they even step foot in the door. Curb appeal is everything, so you’ll want to be sure to spruce up the outdoors before heading inside.

  • Trim the bushes to let natural light into your home
  • Mow the lawn in orderly lines to show neatness
  • Plant some flowers for a cheerful introduction

An appealing outside entices buyers to head inside for more of the same clean atmosphere.

Small Touches Go A Long Way

You don’t need to spend loads of money on a massive makeover. Stick to smaller projects that will enhance your home’s existing appeal.

  • Instead of replacing a bedroom door, try painting it a fresh color
  • Update doorknobs and make sure all the hinges are oiled for smooth access between rooms
  • Remove cobwebs and never let the dust settle
  • Replace old hardware in kitchens and bathrooms, this can include light covers, handles, faucets, etc. It’s these small details that can make all of the difference.
  • Add organizers to closets (if they don’t already have them)
  • Wash the walls so they seem more fresh (a detailed cleaning will make the world of difference)

You never know when a buyer will call for a look around so make sure you and your home are ready to go the moment the doorbell rings.

Increase the Look of Your Space

Potential buyers are looking for a home that offers the most space for their money. You’ll want to clear some room to make some extra space. You will find buyers opening cupboards and closets; so be prepared for them to look inside!

  • Clear hallways of furniture and use bright light bulbs to illuminate the space
  • Paint the walls a light, neutral color to showcase the home as a canvas
  • Organize the kitchen cupboards just in case they take a peek inside
  • Remove half of your clothing from the closet to make it seem more roomy
  • Clear out any clutter

All of these tips leave the buyer thinking they’ll have more room for their personal items.

Always Be Ready to Show

When you are in the process of selling your home (and still living in it!) you will want to make sure you are always ready for someone to knock on the door. So pick up the laundry, dishes, and everyday messes around the house so when you’re perfect buyer shows up, you will be ready!
